Fibreglass roofing in winter
November 9, 2017 12:04 pm
I would always advise you not to install a fibreglass roof in winter as it is frought with many difficulties. Adverse weather conditions, low temperatures, short working days etc. However, sometimes it has to be done. In order to insure it is done in the best possible conditions, the roof area should have waterproof cover erected prior to the final board installation.
This will ensure the boards remain dry after installation and prior to the fibreglass, (GRP), being applied, which should be done as soon as possible after board installation to prevent atmospheric moisture inhibiting the bond of the GRP to the OSB3 board. The correct amount of catalyst must be added to the resin in conjunction with recommendations for the temperature. Always investigate the experience of the installers on the day and satisfy yourself they have the necessary experience.
